Leggings – is there a more comfortable garment?

Leggings – a form-fitting bottom piece, now worn by women worldwide. At a glance, leggings resemble stretch pants or tights. They are almost always made of stretchy material, holding up better than tights and softer to wear than regular pants. I’ll share the benefits of my favorite garment and how I enjoy wearing them myself.

Leggings come in all styles and for every occasion, catering to various tastes. Most often, they are full-length, stretching from the waist to the ankles, but there are also shorter capri models.

Personally, I prefer high-waisted styles. They should stay in place all day because I don’t have time to readjust them. The most important thing is, of course, that they should feel comfortable – like a second skin! Elastic models with a wide and stretchy waistband keep the stomach in place and create a slimmer and smoother silhouette. So, don’t choose models that are too low or too tight. Even tops fall nicely on leggings that fit perfectly.

Leggings are typically made from slightly thicker fabrics, with good stretch: viscose, polyester, spandex, cotton… Each material has its advantages and disadvantages. And the best part is that today, thermal leggings are also manufactured for colder seasons. Really thin leggings resemble the material of tights.

The leggings on the left are made of cotton. Our jeans leggings are mostly viscose, while the capri leggings in the picture are made of polyester. All models have a high and comfortable waist.

There are solid-colored and patterned leggings. They can be embellished with fine details, seams, and prints. Black is, of course, a safe bet, but I personally love to mix colors. I adore unexpected combinations!

If you want to play it safe, it’s easiest to pair colorful patterns with something solid – like a patterned tunic with solid-colored leggings or patterned leggings with a solid-colored top. Of course, you can also mix colorful patterns with other colors and patterns. Choose colors that you want to highlight from the pattern or experiment with contrasting colors. There are surely several shades and colors that will complement each other. When matching patterned garments together, it’s important to stick to one or two key colors to focus on – otherwise, the overall impression can become too cluttered.

Since leggings are tight, they accentuate the contours of the thighs and calves. There are a few things to keep in mind. If you’re worried about unevenness and cellulite showing, it’s especially important to invest in good quality – models that are elastic, slightly darker in color, and made of materials that don’t shine or reflect light. Light, shiny materials that are also thin can accentuate skin irregularities.

It’s recommended to pair leggings with longer tops. If you still prefer shorter tops, our ‘Lunika’ (a practical long top) can be helpful. The Lunika extends shorter tops.

The Lunika looks a bit like a skirt when it peeks out under shorter tops. Here are some examples.
Even a short skirt or vest works as an extension.

How I use my leggings?

I use them year-round, both for everyday wear and for more festive occasions. I pair them with dresses, tunics, and even shorter tunics and tops, as long as I have a Lunika underneath! My favorites are jeans leggings – leggings that look like tight jeans. From a distance, they look like stretch pants, but they feel so much more comfortable. All the details are printed on the fabric.

I often like to roll up the full-length legs when it gets warm – showing off the ankles is flattering :)

In the summers, I usually pull up the legs a bit because I like it when the ankles are clearly visible. Somehow, the line of the foot and calf looks longer and slimmer that way. In colder weather, I always wear leather boots with my leggings. I feel like my legs look shorter if there’s a gap between the boot shaft and the legging, so I try to avoid that.

 Hugs, Marie
