When I was younger, my mom always used to say, ‘Remember to protect your head when it’s sunny outside, otherwise you’ll get heatstroke!’ During the hot weather this weekend, I clearly got heatstroke after a whole day in the garden, so I thought I’d remind everyone now to protect their head when the sun shines so strongly!
Here are 4 simple scarf knots that you can easily do and wear almost anywhere! First, three with pictures and text, and then a video for the fourth one. The scarf should be quite large so that it reaches all the way around the head with plenty of margin.
Good luck!
Classic Turban – Full coverage and stylish

1. Fold the scarf into a triangle. We have used a rectangular scarf, which we first folded in half and then into a triangle.
2. Place the scarf on your head so that the long side is at the back of the neck and the opposite corner hangs over the forehead. Pull the two back corners up around the head towards the front, tie a double knot above the forehead to secure the scarf on the head. Pull down the corner slightly that still hangs over the forehead.
3. Roll up both ends from the knot and tuck them under the scarf on each side. To hide the knot, we fold up the corner that is over the forehead and tuck the excess fabric under the knot.
Voilà! You have a stylish knot for working in the garden, taking a stroll in the city, or spending a day at the beach!

Mini Turban – suits all occasions

1. Pull the scarf together to make it into a long strip.
2. Wrap the strip around your head so that you can tie a double knot in the middle of the forehead. Don’t tighten the strip too much, you’ll need some room for the ends.
3. Roll up one end at a time and tuck the “roll” under the knot you tied.
Voilà! A cute knot that goes well with both loose and updo hairstyles!

Beach Turban – for a full day in the sun

1. Fold the scarf into a triangle. We have used a rectangular scarf, which we first folded in half and then into a triangle.
2. Place the scarf on your head so that the long side is at the forehead and the opposite corner is at the back of the neck. Pull the two corners from the long side backward and make a half bow. If you prefer, you can also make a regular bow.
3. Gently pull the bow and the scarf towards one ear, so that the bow ends up on the side of the head.
Voilà! A romantic knot to protect your head under strong sunshine!

The last knotting, we demonstrate through a video! Elena shows how to use a scarf in many different ways. The video may feel a bit fast, so feel free to pause to keep up with all the steps.
